Wayanad--The place to relax

Before start, For the first time am tryin to write this kind of post. Usaully I will write my experience and review s for the place. But friends felt and asked me for informative posts about the places. Even thought you can find all the info in googling this may be bit helpful while visitng this place.




Wayanad is situated near to kozhikode. This town is border of Kerala to Karnataka and TamilNadu. A single Forest is called in three names.

1. Bandhipur - Karnataka


2. Wayanad- Kerala

3. Mudhumalai/Koodalur- Tamilnadu


Initially we didnt know this when we planned our trip.We have landed to Wayanad from mysore. It takes hardly 4 hours in bus. But better way is from Kozhikode(Calicut).

We 4(Sakthi, Sathish, Sethu, Vaithee) made this trip

Waynanad is not a tourist spot like ooty /kodai/coorg. It is a district. All the tourist spots spotted in distance towns only. 3 Main towns in Waynad district.

1. Kalpetta – District headquarters. And so called town.

2. Sulthan Bathery – Second big town –On the way to Mysore

3. Manthanvady – Very distant town from all other tourist places.

Lots of places there to visit. But it wont be like another tourist places/hill stations to enjoy. If you are true nature lover choose wayand. Or your aim is entertainment choose other spots. But wayanad is jungle city. You can lie in the lap of nature. Relax and love the nature.

Kalpetta

Lots of tourist places are near to Kalpetta(With in 25 km)

1. Sochiparra falls

a. Nice falls and big falls in this town. But crowd makes more dirty

2. Kanthampara falls
a. This is ideal for privacy. There won’t be much crowd in this falls. But you have to walk 3 kms if you don’t hire a vehicle. I have chosen walking because it reduces the software fat. But it was tough one.

3. Meemutty falls
a. Trekking + falls. Little bit dangerous. Ideal for who loves adventures.
It is almost Tamilnadu border.

4. Edakkal caves
Monument /heritage. I don’t like it really. Its ancient caves and nothing to fun

5. Chembara peak – Nothing but trekking

a. If you loves trekking, surely you will love this place. 6 hrs medium trek and you can set your sleep at top station with camp fire. But it will take one full day.

6. Pookut Lake – This is the first place we visited. A huge lake. More than that I loved the walking space to roam around the lake. We can relax with family with this lake.

7. Lakkidi view point

Beautiful view point at the end of wayanad. This is on Calicut way.

8. Banasura Dam

a. Nothing but big dam. Speed boating is avialble and nice experience.

Sulthan Bathery

Muthunga Wild life Sanctuary – jungle

It’s a huge sanctuary. If you love to see animals roaming around you, if you really wish to go in almost open jeep with much protection, the fun awaiting for you.

The places 1,2, 3,4 mentioned in kalpetta can be reached from here too with same distance. This town is situated mysore way.
Manthanvady

This place doesn’t have much touris spots to cover. But still I will vote this is the best in the city. Because it contains Kuruva island

Kuruva island

A huge 950 acres of forst is waiting for you. You have to cross the streams with steep rocks. The lovely fun is hiding with this place. This is the place we shouldn’t miss. If you go with friends, have a trip over here. And enjoy it as long as you like.

Places to stay:

Kalpetta you can get numerous lodges, hotels, so called homestays with in the town limit.

But my suggestion is please go far away from town.

Vythri or Manthanvadi is ideal places to relax yourselves. You can stay around thousands of trees and bees. Lots of home stay and tree houses are there. Always we chose only hotels to stay/luxury suits. Why don we vote Tree house/ Home stay. It will be very nice experience. For your reference below two will be nice places to stay(Mathanvady)

ஆஸ்கார் கனவுகள்

சமீபத்தில் நண்பர்களோடு வயநாடு(கேரளா) சென்றிருந்தேன் .தொல்பட்டி சரணாலயத்தில் எங்களோடு இரு புதிய நண்பர்கள் இணைந்தனர் வாகனப் பர்ரக்குறையால் .கனடாவை சேர்ந்த மைக்கேல் மற்றும் பெல்ஜியமின் "ஏல" . விலங்குகள் சரணாலயத்தை நண்பர்கள் பார்த்து கொண்டிருக்கையில் எதிர்பாராமல் பேச்சு இப்படி திரும்பியது. வெறும் பார்வையாளனாக கவனித்து கொண்டிருந்தேன்.

Sethu: Yes we have lot.
Mike: Then why do u longing for other country award when your having your own?
சேது உட்பட எங்கள் யாரிடமும் பதில் இல்லை. கேள்வியின் உண்மையில் உறைந்து தான் போனோம். ஆஸ்கார் எந்த ஒரு தனிப்பட்ட நாட்டின் விருதில்லைஎனினும் இந்த கேள்வியில் உண்மை இருக்க தான் செய்தது. நண்பர்களுக்கும் யாருக்கேனும் தெரிந்தால் கூறவும்.

Late night tea points

Again a sound from night bird….

Chennai sounds really different at late nights.. Very calm and beautiful roads. Breeze… silence… You will enjoy every minute.
Have a cup of tea to celebrate night times. If you are smoker, this could be nice news to get a cigarette at late nights (when you mostly need).
This may be helpful when you come after the late night cinemas at least
Tea points:


1. Thirumangalm: Thirumangalm signal which joints anna nagar and koyambedu raod. You ucan gind a shop behind the police booth in the signal
2. Koyambedu : As everyone knows outside the bus stand cycle t points
3. Vadapalani : Vadapalani main signal – You can see few cycle t points at this area always.
4. Nungambakkam : Opposite to Sastiri bhavan(passport office). One cycle wala will wait for you to give hot tea till 2. a.m.
5. Nungambakkam:: Sterling road- Cycle wala wil wait near Reebok show room till 2. a.m.
6. Anna nagar(Aminijikarai) – Nelson manikkam road signal – Near to Ampa mall- Cycle wala will wait till 1 a.m
7. Vadapalani – Near Surya hospital – You can have tea here at very late night times too. One shop will be opened.

This may be bit helpful for north Chennai guys (from anna nagar, mugappair, vadapalani, ....)

Mid night masala part -2

Idli point
Again am back for night birds. I am sort of guy who loves to roam in night. I am very sure many of you guys similar to me in this…
When we roam or awake alone in night times, we may be in bloody hungry… So if you have been from south Chennai, Velachery is nice place(as I mentioned earlier posts) to have dinner at very late night( 12- 4 a.m).
But wat about vadapalani anna nagar, kodambakkam guys…..???
I found another area… This may not be very good as velachery.. But something at night time is great only right especially when we are hungry….
So next time when feel hungry reach place to grab the food.
